Addictions Therapy

We believe that one problem (alcohol or drug abuse) cannot be effectively treated if the underlying causes are not identified.

At Nueva, our philosophy it to treat the whole person: The Mind, the Body and the Spirit. In our dual diagnosis facility we believe that most clients have not been able to achieve continued sobriety as the entire person has not been treated. We believe that one problem (alcohol or drug abuse) cannot be effectively treated if the underlying causes, the co-occuring disorders are not identified, reconstructed and healed from.

At Nueva, we are most effective due to our multi-faceted treatment methods including traditional Cognitive Behavior Therapies, Dialectical Behavior Therapies combined with Didactic, Experiential and Holistic Therapies.

We work collaboratively with clients strengths to design individualized treatment plans that specifically address their needs including inclusion of family members where appropriate.

Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders, COD) is the condition of suffering from a mental illness and a comorbid substance abuse problem.

Dual diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders, COD) is the condition of suffering from a mental illness and a comorbid substance abuse problem. There is considerable debate surrounding the appropriateness of using a single category for a heterogeneous group of individuals with complex needs and a varied range of problems.

The concept can be used broadly, for example depression and alcoholism, or it can be restricted to specify severe mental illness (e.g. psychosis, schizophrenia) and substance misuse disorder (e.g. cannabis abuse), or a person who has a milder mental illness and a drug dependency, such as panic disorder or generalized anxiety disorder and is dependent on opioids.

Diagnosing a primary psychiatric illness in substance abusers is challenging as drug abuse itself often induces psychiatric symptoms, thus making it necessary to differentiate between substance induced and pre-existing mental illness.

Holistic Treatment Therapy

Holistic medicine is a form of healing that considers the whole person — body, mind, spirit, and emotions — in the quest for optimal health and wellness.

Holistic treatment therapy is a diverse field of alternative therapy in which the whole person is focused on, not just the malady itself, it upholds that all aspects of people’s needs including psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole.
